PLAYER PROFILE
NAME: Ryan Brown

POSITION: Wing Back

DATE OF BIRTH: 15th March 1985 PLACE: Stoke-On-Trent

MARITAL STATUS: Single.

PREVIOUS CLUBS: He represented Staffordshire Boys at schoolboy level and joined Port Vale FC when he was 9 years old. Although he spent a short time with Manchester United and Manchester City he preferred to stay with his home town club and eventually signed YTS forms for Vale. Following his release from Port Vale he had a spell at Leek Town before joining Vics.

PERSONAL BEST MOMENTS OF HIS CAREER: After signing his first professional contract for Port Vale he was thrilled to make his league debut as a 17 year old at Bristol City.

HIS WORST PERSONAL MOMENT: He suffered an horrific facial injury playing for Vale at QPR . He was involved in a legitimate challenge that ended with him receiving a boot in the face after he had stooped to complete a header that left him with 19 fractures of the eye socket, face and skull. He was out of the game for over 6 months and it is testament to his tenacity and determination that he has been able to eventually rebuild his career.

THE MOST IMPORTANT GOAL HE HAS SCORED: A 94th minute winner at Hartlepool that set Port Vale Youth team up for a Quarter Final place in the F.A. Youth Cup.

THE BIGGEST INFLUENCE ON HIS CAREER: Mum has always been there for him through both the good and difficult times. When at Port Vale Martin Foyle was an important mentor both as Youth Team coach and then first team Manager.

WHO DOES HE RATE AS HIS MOST DIFFICULT OPPONENT: Kevin Betsy during his spell at Barnsley who proved to be a particular handful.

THE PLAYERS WHO HE MOST ADMIRES: Ryan has little hesitation in naming the Vics squad. He believes that the team spirit that they showed in avoiding relegation last season was superb but is at pains to point out that the current squad have a special attitude that will eventually reap due reward.

THE LOUDEST MANAGER(S) HE HAS PLAYED UNDER: Brian Horton and Dino Maamria

WHICH TEAM DOES HE SUPPORT: He supported Port Vale as a child (not surprisingly that relationship ended in divorce following his release) He is also a keen supporter of his national team England

WHO ARE HIS BEST FRIENDS IN FOOTBALL: Colleagues Matty Crowell and Chris Flynn and Congleton's Simon Robinson. Ryan and Simon had joined
Port Vale together as 9 year olds to progress through the ranks.

WHAT OTHER SPORTS DOES HE PLAY: Regularly works out at the gym. And is giving in to constant pressure from some of his club colleagues,
Jonny Allan and Matt Crowell in particular, to take up golf. Although he would hope to end up some way better than Scott Tynan.

HOBBIES: Working out at the gym

MUSIC: Prefers Indie and Hed Kandi although has other tastes The last CD he bought was Hed Kandi: Live Verbeier

WHAT WOULD HE HAVE BEEN HAD HE NOT BEEN A FOOTBALLER: He had the chance to become a professional tennis player when he was 15 years
old but preferred to stick with football. Otherwise Ryan believes his good looks and immaculate dress sense would have landed him a career in modelling.
