Jim goes the extra mile.......

As a distant Vics' fan, there is always a worry that all the 'big match' tickets will be gone by match day, and you'll miss out on our next 'giant killing' adventure. Ardent Vics fans travel the length and breadth of the country and it was great to see this week that the Club are also willing to go that 'extra mile' for the fans.

Vics' fan Chris Latham lives in Somerset, so when he was on a business trip in Cheshire this week, he planned to drive up and collect his ticket from the ground at 5pm. The following is an extract from Chris' account of the trip, as published on the distant Vics newsgroup.

"The journey from Somerset was a nightmare in terms of delays and accidents, including an 18 mile jam on the M6 causing me to leave at Alsager and then a road closure in Middlewich, so I had to keep ringing the Vics to keep them posted. First they said they would wait till 6.30 pm, then I agreed to collect it in Hartford as it was on my way but I missed that also. So then the voice said he was going to the Seafarer chippy in Northwich for a bag of chips so I finally drove there, arriving at 7pm. I called the mobile and the voice said," I'm in the car park " , so I walked around the corner and the voice said " I'm waving out of the window of a Merc!"

Only then did I realise the voice belonged to Jim Rushe -the Chairman had waited around till 7pm to sell me one ticket, and was munching chips meantime. He shook my hand and said he was glad to meet me at last."

How many other Chairmen would wait around for 2 hours just to sell a single ticket? Well done Jim.
